Rewarding custom home design in California's San Jacinto Mountains

We are so pleased with the addition that David designed for our 1940s Idyllwild Cabin. We tripled the size of the original cabin, by adding on 1600 ft.  The addition has the same warmth and character of the original cabin.  Our home is so liveable, we love the way the old and new parts of the home flow together.  From the placement of the washer and dryer to  the use of windows and built-ins, everything was well thought out.  We’re so proud of our home, and couldn’t be happier with David’s work!

David designed a 480-square-foot addition to our home in the mountains of Idyllwild, CA. The original house was built 50 years ago. David came up with a highly creative design that seamlessly blended the new with the old. He was extremely sensitive to our mountain views and woodland setting. He worked harmoniously with the contractor  and, on site, there was a nice, peaceful spirit of give and take. Most importantly, David is a great listener: incorporating every one of our ideas with his own creative touch and flair.

When we first met with David Lilieholm, we knew we had connected with the designer that could translate our dreams onto our new property in Fern Valley. David exceeded our expectations.  He lent a “spiritual” quality to the project, spending many hours visiting the location and absorbing the sounds of the creek and the wind, and examining the lovely views.  When he put pencil to paper, the result was a perfectly sited home that took advantage of the unique location in every way.

Since the construction, we have repeatedly called on David’s expertise for various projects around the house.  Most recently, he lent his substantial knowledge of native plants to a landscape design project, creating a beautiful, tiered garden using boulders on the site, while adding many native plants and trees.
